4 Reasons Why Christians Are Falling Away

Does the word of God prick you anymore? There are two major effects of the word of God in a person’s life once they feel pricked. Either you grow in faith, or you fall away slowly.

Why does the heart need to be pricked? A pricked heart reacts; it is responsive. When the people heard the gospel, they desired to grow (Acts 2:37). The Bereans responded to the gospel with the readiness of mind (Acts 17:11). The Thessalonians believed in Christ amidst much persecution.

Unlike hearts that have turned indifferent over the years. Or hearts that have become seared (1 Timothy 4:1,2) because of years of neglecting the word of God and fellowship.

A heart vulnerable to sin requires daily nourishment to bear fruit for the kingdom of God.

Jesus was bloodied and hung on the cross of Calvary. He paid the perfect, sinless sacrifice for our sins. Yet, Christians are falling away. Why is it happening?

Four verses to help understand why Christians are falling away.

1. We are in the last days (2 Timothy 4:3), sin is increasing and love waxing cold.

2. Paul lists reasons (2 Timothy 3:1-10) why the heart is not getting pricked.

3. People give in to fear as they lose focus of God's promises and give room to news of the world in their hearts. (Luke 21:26)

4. eating and drinking, marrying like the world (Luke 17:27,28). Living a lavish lifestyle rather than redeeming the time.

How to face the world? Be strong. If you are strong, the devil cannot enter your heart (Mark 3:27). How to be strong? When the word of God we hear is correct, our faith increases, making us strong in Christ.

Do not believe the lie that there is still time for Jesus’ return (Matthew 24:46-51). Keep diligently working on your heart.

The word of God must convict us as we meditate on Christ daily. Prepare yourself. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
