Be Like Mary Magdalene

The women had more faith than the chosen eleven. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were the first to be at the sepulchre and eventually see Jesus. Mark 16:14 reveals how Jesus rebuked the eleven for being hard-hearted and full of unbelief even after hearing from others that He had risen.

When Jesus died, the dead had risen too. It was a supernatural event the disciples failed to reflect on or remember. It is shocking to know that such a supernatural event took place, and still, the disciples failed to believe that Jesus had risen.

Mary Magdalene lived a life of gratitude and stayed devoted to her love for Jesus.

We can learn quite a few things from Mary Magdalene from the scene in Matthew 28. Here are six observations.

  1. She loved Jesus! Loving God keeps God's word in our hearts and helps us be available for His work.

  2. Her faith was wholesome in that she believed Christ would rise according to His word.

  3. Because of her love and faith, her hope anchored her to get to her love as quickly as possible.

  4. Her pure adoration for her Master, falling at His feet, reveals her humility.

  5. Her worshipping Jesus reveals her recognition of Him as God of all. Your worship of God depends on who He is to you.

  6. She became the first to testify and preach about the resurrected Jesus and the resurrection power of God. When we truly seek God early, He will lead us to do His perfect will.

The time is short. Let's examine our lives and seek the highest standard of love Christ displayed for us. Meditate on the word and praise God for raising women and men for His glory and our learning.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
