Do, In Christ

Do, do, do! We love doing. We are deeply wired to do. If we don’t find ourselves 'doing' we feel worthless. Hence, we experience the nagging feeling of doing something to prove ourselves.

The problem with 'doing' is that it is tied to self-righteousness. The first man was natural. He had hardly much to do until he disobeyed for sin to rule his life. His life became all about sweating in labour for basic needs in life.

God set up man for the best life for him to enjoy His glorious presence. He chose to do his will, and now he is stuck in a world of "do’s and don’ts" that drives him crazy.

I went to church. I raised my hands. Wore simple clothes. Praised God loudly. Stood on my knees. Prayed in tongues. I did this and that, etc. I read the Bible today. I woke up early and prayed, I did this ministry, led that worship, etc. you know what I’m talking about!

We’ve turned a relationship with Jesus into religious activities that bear no fruit. Jesus warned about the pharisaical lifestyle. He vehemently hated it because they were like whitened sepulchres with dead bones inside.

Sadly, many old believers get stuck in this rut because they did not take their youth seriously in Christ. They lack the love that understands the pressures of much younger lifestyles. Youth get confused as some elders get dominating and judgemental. It happens at home, church and everywhere else.

HOW TO STOP DOING THAT BEARS NO FRUIT?

Start loving.

Jesus loved us all. Still forbears us despite all our failures and shortcomings. How did Jesus suffer and die on the cross for wretched people like us? He loved us and did what the Father (who loved us) desired. He corrected, rebuked, instructed and gave pure doctrines all in love. The Pharisees hated Him because He made life simple again.

Dear child of God, get out of a ritualistic life that does not bear fruit. When you love God wholeheartedly, everything you do becomes a blessing for you and others. God will be well-pleased. You will live like sons and daughters of the most High. To be doers of the Word, let the love of the Father drive you by the power of the Holy Spirit.

May God help us all. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
