How to be guided by Truth - Part ⅔

Hope you’ve read the first post on how to be guided by the truth. I shared about how we need to ask God to guide us. We need to surrender, to ask Him.

Seek

Secondly, we need to seek God to be guided by the truth. Seeking God entails, seeking His precious Word. Making sure you hear from Him.

Who to seek?

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. When we sincerely seek the Truth, we will find Jesus. Cornelius knew that A GOD existed. He did not know THE GOD, till GOD Himself sent angels to Cornelius to summon Peter the Apostle to preach the gospel to them. When Cornelius and his household believed the Word of God, they also were anointed with the Holy Spirit which is given only to the children of God.

What to seek?

Jesus makes it easy for us to understand what to seek.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

What is the kingdom of God? It is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. When we desire the things of God, set our affections on things above (Colossians 3:1-3), we are trusting in God to take care of all our earthly needs. We need to seek the riches and wealth of heaven, and not the earth. The pandemic has helped most of the world realise that they either need God or nothing belongs to them.

How to seek?

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; (Proverbs 2:4)

The Word of God gives us a knowledge, wisdom and understanding that is of Heaven. For where our treasure is, there is our heart too (Matthew 6:21). Most Christians struggle in their journey because the Word of God is not THE source of life for them. What happens when Jesus is life? You seek the Word with tears (Psalms 126:5).

When to seek?

Psalms 16:8 teaches us to seek God always. Be it in our good times or bad times, He is always available. He is a very present help in trouble. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). All the time is the best time. Now, is the best time. He is always available for those who seek Him whenever they do.

Where to seek?

Psalms 16:11 reveals in His presence there is fullness of Joy. Wherever you can pray, is where you can seek Him. Anyplace, anywhere, if you do not have access to fellowship.

Why to seek?

There are many reasons for us to seek the Word of God. I’ll share only one for now.

To save ourselves and others from Hell.

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (1 Timothy 4:16)
