How To Walk In The Righteousness Of God?
A believer desires daily to walk in the righteousness of God. One of the many qualities we need to walk in the righteousness of God is to hate lies.
The righteous man hates lies.
A righteous man hates lies, But a wicked man is loathsome, and he acts shamefully.
Proverbs 13:5
No one who loves God will ever imagine lying to another. Anyone who loves God knows and understands how God feels about lies. GOD HATES LIES.
These six things the Lord hates; Indeed, seven are repulsive to Him: A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], a lying tongue ...
Proverbs 6:16,17
Once we take water baptism, we commit a righteous act in accordance with God’s word. It is a choice we make by surrendering ourselves to walk in obedience to God’s word of truth. Lying breaks that commitment with God.
Walk in the righteousness of God
Ananias and Sapphira paid with their lives for lying to Peter, the Apostle.
Now a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, and with his wife’s full knowledge [and complicity] he kept back some of the proceeds, bringing only a portion of it, and set it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and [secretly] keep back for yourself some of the proceeds [from the sale] of the land? As long as it remained [unsold], did it not remain your own [to do with as you pleased]? And after it was sold, was the money not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this act [of hypocrisy and deceit] in your heart? You have not [simply] lied to people, but to God.” And hearing these words, Ananias fell down suddenly and died; and great fear and awe gripped those who heard of it.
Acts 5:1-5
Do you lie? Stop now! Remember this happened in the New Testament period, not the Old. While most may not have literally experienced such encounters, it does not mean it does not happen. All who go against the Holy Spirit and are remain unrepentant push themselves to a state of no repair.
Seek repentance and restore your walk with Jesus. When we walk with Jesus, we cannot lie. The presence of Jesus gives us the courage to overcome fear and walk in truth and wisdom.
Jesus is the truth. When we put on Christ we will love truth and hate lies. Prepare to meet Jesus, live in the truth. Maranatha, Praise God and Amen!
