Jesus Is Your Righteousness
You are a righteous person. Your righteousness isn't a hidden quality. It is shining as a light to all around you.
WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS?
It is obedience to God's Word. Jesus did not have to take water Baptism. He took it to fulfil the righteousness of God (Matthew 3:15); as if Jesus would disobey the Father. We on the other hand will disobey out of ignorance or hard tests. Not Jesus! That's why Jesus is our obedience.
WHEN DOES ONE BECOME RIGHTEOUS?
The gospel or Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is possible from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life." (Romans 1:17)
Faith is authored in us when we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour of our lives. We come alive spiritually when God opens our eyes. We become righteous.
We are created in righteousness in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 4:24).
WHO IS RIGHTEOUS?
Not one (Romans 3:10). Only Jesus is righteous. He became sin for us so we can be made righteous through Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Jesus is the Word of God. We are made righteous with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. (Romans 3:22-24).
HOW DO THE RIGHTEOUS LIVE?
He lives by faith.
Merely listening to God's word doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the Word of God that makes us right in his sight. (Romans 2:13)
Be doers of the Word of God (James 2:24). God's spoken word manifests in the flesh. Those who hear God's word will always obey. Actions follow their faith.
WHAT KEEPS US RIGHTEOUS?
Every believer seeks the righteousness of God (Matthew 6:33). While we are born in righteousness when saved, we need to grow. Seeking the righteousness of God helps us to not only remain righteous but also grow into Christ-like maturity.
Who can seek God's righteousness? Those who hunger and thirst for it (Matthew 5:6). God satisfies them with every good thing.
Dear child of God, love helps us obey. Look at Jesus, our righteousness. Give room for the Holy Spirit to pour God's love into your heart so you can walk in righteous obedience.
