Religiosity Keeps Us From Recognising Christ
"My eldest brother died a drunkard. The second eldest died a drunkard, but after accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour. He left a wife and two children. I later married his wife as per our tradition. I was shocked at his transformation in the end. I was a drunkard too. But his death opened my eyes to God.
I started seeking Him. My wife was a believer because she too had an encounter with living Jesus. I left my nominal church and, with my family, worshipped at a Pentecostal one. My entire life changed. No more drinking, or bad habits. A disciplined life that kept Jesus first.
My former nominal church could not accept my leaving it. They provoked my mom into hating my wife. They were so blinded by their ego, including my mother, that they could not see the transformative work of God in my life. The persecution persists, but God protects us."
Like the Jews failed to recognise Christ, many Christians are stuck in their former state. Religious conditioning is too deep and cannot be overcome without a genuine surrender to Jesus.
Religious conditioning is present in every church. The rich young ruler was religious. He was ritualistic in his devotion. He was willing to lose Jesus to keep his image in society.
Jesus desires complete surrender so He can fully take care of us. Dear child of God, give your whole self to God.
Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
