There Is A Rest During A Wrestling

Are you RESTing or wRESTling? In Christ, we have rest. But as long as we are in this body, there will be wrestling.

The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. As much as we desire to do the will of God, we often find ourselves giving in to the vagaries of the flesh. Momentarily we lose God's rest and find ourselves embroiled in sin or foolish thoughts.

JESUS IS OUR REST

Jesus did not tell us that everything will be easy. He gave us His peace and rest so we can overcome the troubles of each day (John 16:33).

Jesus promises rest to those who come to Him (Matthew 11:28). We worship a living God who engages with us.

REST IN GOD'S PROMISES BY FAITH

No matter what, we have a sure place of rest in the presence of God (Exodus 33:14). We have the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit abiding in us as we abide in Him (John 15).

As we rest in God's promises, we find freedom from this wrestling in eternity. God has put us to labour to enter into a rest forever (Hebrews 4:11). This labour is a life of faith that produces works, keeping us preserved in His rest.

REST IN THE CROSS

Jacob wrestled with an angel to receive his blessing. We received every spiritual blessing through the cross of Christ. How greatly blessed we are because of the precious blood of Jesus shed for us on Calvary. All our burdens and bindings were removed at the cross and replaced with a glorious hope through the resurrection.

Are you resting in Jesus in the middle of your storm? No one cares about us but God. Also, those who care have their own wrestlings too. Set yourself on the rock that is Christ.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
