How To Be An Overseer In The House Of God?

To be an Overseer in the house of God, one needs to be an example.

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. (1 Peter 5:1-3)

"A believer and his minister got into an altercation. Both blamed each other for what happened. The bitterness among them grew so much that they avoided each other as much as possible. The believer, a good and helpful man, became weaker and weaker spiritually. It had a terrible bearing on the rest of the family.

The minister goes around bad mouthing the believer. More believers begin avoiding this good believer. What an unfortunate trap. The minister in his preachings claim he has the highest hope. He claims his ministry is based on the Jesus model."

An overseer in the house of God needs to be like Jesus

What would Jesus do? He would go ahead and wash the feet of the believer and reconcile with him, and not demand forgiveness. Jesus knew our state, He still came down, washed our feet and died on the cross and rose again so we may never have to be overcome by evil, unforgiving natures.

If we do not have the heart to wash the feet of those who hate us, then our love is vanity. It is putrid and vile in the sight of God. Jesus teaches us to love our enemies, but many ministers, lately, love their positions more than their own brethren.

Let’s humble ourselves before our beloved Jesus. Seek Him daily to walk in His will and live like Him alone. Jesus is coming soon. Praise God and Amen!
