How To Strengthen Your Faith?

If you do not strengthen your faith, your spiritual man will begin to perish.

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Psalms‬ ‭13:3

In this Psalm, written by King David, he is asking the Lord God to enlighten his eyes, so that he does not sleep the sleep of death. Why is King David praying this prayer?

Sleep of death refers to not walking according to the Word of God or walking in unbelief. As believers, we are people who walk by faith and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7. The world 🌍 believes only by seeing. They need evidence to prove and find visible solutions for problems.

However, for a believer to continue growing spiritually, the eyes need to be enlightened. Growth happens, when we are strengthened by the Word of God which increases faith.

So, here’s how you can Strengthen Your Faith:

To strengthen your faith, set the house in order

House refers to our life. In Ezra 9:8,9, we see Ezra supplicating on behalf of the Israelites and also thanking God for giving them a chance to rebuild the house of God; to repair the site of its ruin. Dear child of God, in order to set your relationship right with God, set your own house in order as soon as possible. To strengthen our faith, we have to set right our lives.

Looking at Christ alone

As believers, to strengthen our faith we must look at Christ alone and follow Him all the days of our lives. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews‬ ‭12:2‬. Those who look at Christ and run this race will never be in darkness. John 8:12.

Arise from the dead to strengthen your faith

This refers to forsaking the life of living in sin. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Ephesians‬ ‭5:14‬. To be quickened from the dead, the Word of God must enter into us. (John 6:63).

Be Upright

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. Psalms‬ ‭112:4‬. How can we be upright? When we are kept in the Blood of Jesus. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Ephesians‬ ‭1:18-19‬.
