How To Walk In Fellowship?

Do you walk in fellowship? Or is it all about friendships for you. What is Fellowship really? Is it believers with common tastes and preferences coming together?

Never!

Fellowship has nothing to do with people coming together based on their own thinking but based on how God needs to build His people together.

It’s not about how you feel, it’s about the truth. When we trust the truth in the word of God by faith, we will learn to feel correctly as well. It’s not feel-o-ship, it’s fellowship. It’s neither friendship that’s founded on personal tastes and carnal inclinations.

What does it mean to walk in fellowship?

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews‬ ‭10:23-25‬)

Like friendships tend to hinge on emotional support for each other; Fellowship is far far greater because it’s God’s creation not human strategy. God leads people into communion with each other. We are focused on good works according to the leading of the Holy Spirit based on God’s word.

We come together as the Spirit of God leads us through His word and power. Many know the word but haven’t tasted the power of God. Therefore many Christians live intellectually. Word without power will make us live a double life. Where we call ourselves as believers and go to church regularly but don’t live the word out wherever we are - Jerusalem (among brothers and sisters in christ), Judea (where we live), Samaria (workplace), and the uttermost part of the world (wherever He leads us) - Acts 1:8.

Fellowship is a place where our eyes are fixed on Jesus as we speak out His love and power working in and through us, leaving each one edified, encouraged and comforted in time of need. It’s not about me, it’s all about Him. Most importantly, as we provoke each other to good works, we encourage one another as we see the day approaching. What day? The day when Jesus will appear for His spotless and blameless bride.

Are you preparing yourself to meet God? Each day, every day, we live to edifying, encourage, comfort and warn one another in love.

When Jesus is the king of our hearts, and minds, God will finish what He started for His glory in us. Maranatha, praise God and Amen!
