Jesus Is My Rock!

THE ROCK THAT FOLLOWED THEM WAS CHRIST - 1 Corinthians 10:4Jesus is my Rock, my sure foundation is He!! I am safe in Him.The psalmist proclaims the same in Psalms 18:2 - The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. In a literal sense, we may not find anything in a rock. It's surface is very hard and sharp, and none can take some rest on it. But one thing about a rock is, its firm and can't be moved.Dear Reader, do you find refuge in this Rock that is Christ Jesus? If you haven't yet, I would encourage you to go forward and put your trust in Him because He won't let you be ashamed. There are 12 beautiful experiences in this Rock:1. Deuteronomy 32:18 - Of the Rock that begat thee... Here the Rock is compared to someone who has begotten or given birth to us. God made us a living being through that Rock. He brought forth us in 4 ways:

  • By His Word - 1 Peter 1:23
  • Through the Gospel - 1 Corinthians 4:15
  • Unto a lively hope - 1 Peter 1:3
  • Unto Himself/ begotten of God - 1 John 5:18

Therefore, we should be mindful of this Rock and not forget Him even in our thoughts.2. Psalms 89:26 - He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. This Rock not only gave birth to us but also gave us Salvation. The Anointed ones who have experienced Him as Rock of salvation will cry out to Him.He's our defence - Psalms 62:2,6. Therefore, for all our needs we should call out to Him, which was also the state of King David.3. Psalms 62:7 - In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. The psalmist calls this Rock as his strength because he is able to take refuge there and is safe. In Psalms 71:3 he says to this Rock - Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. In a rock there is no place for habitation but King David had experienced God as his place of strong habitation. Abiding there he was safe from his enemies. He also says whereunto I may continually "resort". A resort is a place of relaxation and rest. This Rock had been a resort for David continually. That is why Jesus tells Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest - Matthew 11:28.4. Psalms 61:2 - From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. The process of leading to the Rock that is higher than I can be done only through the power of the Holy Spirit. We cannot reach that place by ourselves. We need to be led by the Holy Spirit for this. This is God's perfect will concerning us.5. Psalms 40:2 - He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. He's the Rock of my feet. If we stand on the Rock we will be established. To Elijah, God said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord - 1 Kings 19:11. While he stood, many things happened around him. There was a great and strong wind, an earthquake, rocks broke in pieces etc. But the place where Elijah was standing nothing happened.Similarly, many things may happen around us, but if our feet are firm on the Rock, we are secure. The Lord will establish us.6. Psalms 73:26 - My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever - God as a Rock is there in my heart. For this to happen, our hearts need to be clean and pure. That's why in the first verse of Psalms 73, David says, Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.(... to be continued)
