Who really is a Wise Man living on the Earth? Part-1

When baby Jesus was born, there came about wise men (the Magi) from the East to Jerusalem, seeking to meet the new born. They had seen His star in the East and had come to worship Him. Mathew 2:1,2.

Then again, in the ministerial days of Jesus, certain Greeks had come to Jerusalem to take part in the yearly feasts. The Greeks were known to be wise men, intelligent and scholarly people during those days. Well, Jesus was also present there at that time of the feast. These wise men came to Philip and expressed their desire to meet Him. John 19:20,21.

Nevertheless, based on what the Scripture teaches us, let me introduce you to the first part of the 5 groups of people whom the Scripture calls as wise men!

He who holds his peace is wise!

Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. Proverbs‬ ‭17:28‬. Let’s assume, there’s a big fight happening and the people involved are yelling at each other like typical “gun-throats”!! Who would call them sensible/wise, unless one of them decides to stop and then speak after a long pause!!😊

However there’s good news for a child of God. He/she does not have to fight their battles all by themselves. The Lord says, He will fight for us! We just need to hold our peace. Exodus 14:14. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms‬ ‭46:10‬. And when He fights for us, there is definite winning! Jehovah-Nissi!

Those who ‘took oil’

Jesus shared a parable with His disciples about 10 virgins who were preparing to meet the bridegroom. Among them 5 were wise and 5 were foolish. You know why? Because the five wise virgins had oil in their lamps and the other five had lamps but lacked oil. In fact all of them were waiting to meet the Bridegroom and it was imperative for them to have oil in their lamps. Oil here refers to the Grace of God. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. Matthew‬ ‭25:4‬.

The wise virgins who took oil, had continued growing themselves in the grace of God. But the other five, took their lives casually and didn’t prepare themselves to meet the Groom. There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up. Proverbs‬ ‭21:20‬. Our lives must never lack oil, that is, the grace of God. The Lord desires that our lamps should always be shining brightly. Lamp refers to our lives. Luke 12:35.
