Be A Spiritual Father
There are many teachers, but few fathers today.
“For even if you had ten thousand others to teach you about Christ, you have only one spiritual father. For I became your father in Christ Jesus when I preached the Good News to you.”
— 1 Corinthians 4:15
WHO IS A SPIRITUAL FATHER?
A spiritual father:
📖 1 Corinthians 4:14
Warns his children not to judge anyone before the proper time.
📖 1 Thessalonians 2:11–12
Encourages his children to walk worthily before God.
Comforts his children during difficult times.
Pleads with his children to follow the Lamb.
A spiritual father toils night and day to bring the Word to his children
(1 Thessalonians 2:9).
A spiritual father suffers much for his children, crying out to the Heavenly Father on their behalf. Some exemplary spiritual fathers in Scripture include Jacob, King David, and Job.
A spiritual father accepts his children despite what they have done. The prodigal son repented and returned to a father who ran to him with love and mercy.
Dear child of God,
you are called to be a spiritual father for the glory of God. At times, your life may become an open display of troubles and trials—do not be discouraged. Keep pressing on toward victory by remembering the promises of God. Proclaim them to yourself by faith. Be delivered, and become a blessing to those around you.
Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
