Depend On The Perfect Obedience Of Christ
I am not, and cannot be, a perfect Christian.
But I must depend on the perfect obedience of Christ.
There is no excuse for sin or disobedience in our lives after we have accepted and believed in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. We will lack and fall at times, but as we remain in God’s Word and keep our eyes on Jesus, the Spirit of God will see us through.
How Do We Depend on the Perfect Obedience of Christ?
ACKNOWLEDGE THE FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS
Jesus said, “It is finished,” as He hung on the cross. In that moment, Jesus became our obedience—He took our sins upon Himself and imputed His righteousness to us. We must accept this by faith and respond with repentance.
LIVE IN SINCERE REPENTANCE
Moving forward in faith requires sincere repentance that cultivates a deep hatred for sin—not for self. Be careful not to condemn yourself. True repentance produces fresh zeal (2 Corinthians 7:11), not a fearful obsession about falling again.
SEEK SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Fresh zeal leads to a deeper desire to grow in Christ (Ephesians 4:11–16).
Let Christ increase, and let me decrease.
We are greatly blessed in Christ. He has positioned us to receive eternal life. Love Jesus wholeheartedly. Be willing to leave everything for His will. Wherever He leads us will always be the best way forward. Abide in His Word and seek help from the Holy Spirit.
Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
