Don’t Be Like Amaziah

Watch out for these natures that seek to creep into our lives.

(2 Chronicles 25:1) Amaziah means strength. Jehoaddin means one who received love of God. They lived in Jerusalem - the city of the great King (Matthew 5:35).

We who are kings, having received God's love, may have revealed the following characteristics evident in young King Amaziah.

4 things we learn about what Amaziah did; akin to what we find ourselves entangled in as believers today.

PLEASED GOD, BUT NOT WHOLEHEARTEDLY

(2 Chronicles 25:2)

Amaziah did what was pleasing in God's sight; but not wholeheartedly. We must love God wholeheartedly. Judah served God hypocritically; not wholeheartedly (Jeremiah 3:10).

REVENGEFUL

(2 Chronicles 25:3)

Amaziah avenged his father's killers. Do not take revenge (Romans 12:19). Esau desired to take revenge against Jacob (Genesis 27:41).

GATHERED PEOPLE TO FIGHT

(2 Chronicles 25:5)

He gathered people to fight. Never indulge in groupism. Learn to trust God to move mountains or guide your actions without having to gather support.

DEPENDS ON OWN STRENGTH

(2 Chronicles 25:6)

He PURCHASED great warriors. Flexing the power of money is a common problem in churches in the last days. God is faithful. We need to be patient, waiting on God, not hurrying with our decisions because we are well-resourced.

Dear saint, don’t be hasty in your decision-making. Wait on the Lord for all things.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
