Every Generation Has Its Struggles
Every generation has its struggles. Our forefathers went through much suffering. But always talking about a past that the present cannot comprehend is pointless. Instead, glorify God, who is the same always, no matter what the struggles are.
If we keep pushing a narrative that glorifies the struggles rather than revealing God, who is awesome despite the struggles, we fail to learn who God truly is.
Just because my father went hungry years ago to make sure I am well-fed today does not mean I have no struggles in life. It may seem we have fewer physical hardships today, but the food we eat is poisoned and causing new diseases. And even if the food were fine — is the world we live in spiritually more burdensome? Indeed, far more than it ever was during our fathers' time.
Sin Is Abounding
Matthew 24:12
When sin abounds, everyone suffers.
Media used to be word of mouth and written formats. Today, we have audio and visual formats that spread globally via the internet and social media. AI is now negatively affecting human lives across all levels — more personally and more divisively than ever before.
Comparing our forefathers' struggles as greater than today's struggles is wrong. It:
Glorifies sacrifice over love
Draws attention to the person going through the suffering, rather than to God, who is gracious amidst it all
Discourages the flock, because they begin to feel unheard
Leaves the youth — who have limited experience — unable to relate to what their elders have gone through, because the times present different problems
Some ministers voluntarily avoid today's media. They are not obligated to use it. However, it leaves them uninformed about what is actually happening in the virtual world, as humanity grows more digital every year.
Grace Abounds Even More
Romans 5:20
When grace abounds, all who submit find peace and rest.
When we look at the heroes of faith, they became heroes not because they were qualified, but because they submitted to God's help. God worked mightily, rescued them, and honoured them for His glory.
Highlight God's grace. Testify of His provision, protection, and security. Teach and preach the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. Equip the flock with a clear understanding of the Holy Spirit. Magnify the love of the Father.
Our God is gracious. Learning to trust in Him will bring us the greatest victories.
Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
