Guard Your Heart
Negative words can come from anywhere — from inside your head, your home, your church, your workplace, and beyond. It is critical to guard our hearts from words that burden us. The damage that negative words cause is not small. Great losses have come upon those who gave room for negative words in their lives.
Words affect the spirit of man deeply, if left unguarded.
Satan spoke like a friend and lured Eve into sin. Words cost the first man his place in paradise, and brought sin into the world.
Samson, the mighty man of God, gave in to Delilah's constant nagging. He lost his vision and strength because he did not abide in his consecration to God's Word.
King Solomon, the wisest and richest man, fell from grace because his wives encouraged him to worship idols.
What Does Meditation on God's Word Do?
It cleanses us from the inside out. (John 15:3)
It shields us from invasive thoughts
It sets a standard against thoughts that do not conform to the perfect Word of God
It helps us respond in godly wisdom
The devil uses words in different ways to overcome weak believers. Negative words come in various forms — sometimes sweet and friendly, sometimes fearful and threatening, sometimes convincing and factual, and sometimes calm and reassuring.
No matter how they come at us, guarding our hearts is our responsibility. It is possible when we maintain a close fellowship with Jesus.
Every believer's fellowship is first with the Father and the Son, through the Holy Spirit. Prepare to meet Jesus.
Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
