How Does Abiding In The Word Help?
Jesus said, "If you ABIDE IN MY WORD, then are you truly my disciples." (John. 8:31)
What happens when we abide in God's word? Here are 6 fruits produced from abiding in God's word, in a believer’s life.
NOT PRACTICING SIN (1 John 3:6). Living in daily repentance.
KEEPING GOD'S COMMANDMENT (1 John 3:24) to love others as Jesus loves us.
BEARING FRUIT (John 15:5) for the kingdom of God.
LOVING EACH OTHER (1 John 2:10; 4:13), genuinely.
WALKING AS CHRIST WALKED (1 John 2:6), in humility and lowliness of heart.
FAITHFULNESS TO GOD'S TRUTH (1 John 2:24) (2 John 9), powered by the Holy Spirit.
Quite straightforward, isn't it? But, is it easy for us to abide in God's word? Not with our own effort. Remember, every time we fall, God’s word lifts us back up.
We abide by every word our jobs demand of us. If we don't, we lose the job. Why does it feel so hard to abide by what God says? The devil does not care about your success on earth. He may even help you with it so you stay occupied. He hates it when we willingly submit to the will of God.
Every attempt is made to get us distracted from walking in God's word by Satan, Worldliness and our fleshly inclinations. Renew yourself daily in Jesus, dear saint. The time is near.
