How Should We Approach News About Divisions in the Church?
Do not believe everything you hear — and if you do believe it, believe only in part. Why? Wait patiently for the dust to settle.
Divisions occur because someone is right and someone is wrong. In fact, divisions help us identify who is standing on the right side. (1 Corinthians 11:18–19)
A Lesson from Israel
Israel was divided when Moses was delayed coming down the mountain (Exodus 32:26). When he finally descended, he called out — "Whoever is on the Lord's side, come to me." The rest had given themselves over to evil, worshipping a golden calf.
Why Do Divisions Occur?
Divisions occur because believers are still operating with a carnal mindset (1 Corinthians 3:1–3). The Corinthian church was divided by personal bias — some favoured Paul, others Apollos. Yet both, as godly servants, pointed everyone to God alone.
So who is right?
The one who takes God's side.
The one who glorifies God alone.
Staying Grounded in the Last Days
We are in the last days. Many kinds of divisions may erupt to disrupt. An intimate walk with the Holy Spirit will keep us guarded from rumours, lies, and deception.
Social media fuels negativity. Work pressures breed stress. Taking intentional steps to keep your emotions in check is the need of the hour. Remember — patience is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Stay united on the inside. Keep your body under subjection. Let Christ alone be glorified.
Maranatha — Praise God, and Amen.
