Only God Deserves All The Praise

A billionaire died. And many flocked to their social media to bid adieu. People filled their statuses with his photo along with stories about him. He was called a mentor, a visionary, etc. Much praise was given concerning this man's life.

The rich man had so many friends (Proverbs 14:20).

Wealth makes many “friends”; poverty drives them all away. (Proverbs 19:4)

When non-believers do so, it's obvious. Some do it to fit in with the rest. Some others praised him because they looked up to him as a role model. It does not matter what non-believers think or do. They only know what they've seen and heard. They are in darkness and their mind is limited to this world.

But, when believers start praising a sinful man, it's a tragedy. Why? Why can't believers praise another human being?

The Bible clearly reveals to us the human condition.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). No man is worthy of praise. Only God is worthy and deserves all the glory and honour. Jeremiah 9:23-24, teaches us that all praising or boasting is evil, except praising or boasting about God.

The wages of sin are death - if you don't believe the obvious and live in sin, you die in sin. The rich have access to great knowledge resources and even invest in science and technology. But refuse to acknowledge God despite their discoveries of the grand design of the universe. When they know God and do not glorify Him, God leaves them to their own delusion (Romans 1:18-32). Why are some believers praising such men?

Scripture reminds us again and again that God alone must be praised - (2 Corinthians 10:17) (Psalms 34:2) (1 Corinthians 1:31) (Psalms 20:7) (2 Corinthians 12:9) (1 Corinthians 3:21)...

Paul makes it absolutely clear - As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. (Galatians 6:14)

Dear believer, we must not boast about anything but the cross of Christ. The world needs Jesus. The rich care only about themselves. God has chosen you to tell the world about the wisdom of God. Prepare to meet Jesus.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
