Preventing Mental And Emotional Disorders

How to PREVENT MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL DISORDERS?

Where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, you will find disorder and evil of every kind. (James 3:16)

Scripture teaches that we will find disorder and evil of every kind when carnal natures persist. Jealousy caused by comparisons or selfish earthly ambitions, leads to a mind and heart full of confusion.

When we look at the entire chapter, it gives us a clearer view of why various disorders including demonic possession take place in a believer.

Here's a quick overview of two key issues,

DESIRING TO BE MANY MASTERS

Many believers want to be ministry leaders or get involved in different ministries. They think they can minister because they've spent a few years studying doctrines, spent time with pastors, etc., Ministry requires maturity that comes with consistent experience with the Word in the world. It requires complete trust in God as the foundation.

NO CONTROL OF THE TONGUE

Controlling the tongue keeps the mind and heart perfectly safe from spiritual attack, and the body under subjection to God's will.

The tongue cannot be controlled without understanding what's causing the tongue to speak disorderly.

James 3 reveals a few natures we need to overcome to keep the tongue under control.

  1. Great boastings (v5)

  2. World of wickedness (v6)

  3. Restless (v8)

  4. Curses, evil, deadly poison (v7-12)

  5. Lies (v14)

What's the solution to remaining in the order of God? Receive His wisdom that keeps us humble (v13). How to be humble and not boastful? Desire the wisdom of God's word. Instead of being a world of wickedness, you become a world of love and compassion. You will remain in the rest of God, becoming merciful, bearing the fruit of the Spirit. You will be established in a truth that will never fall or fail.

To overcome all kinds of disorder and evil, hear the word of God and do it by surrendering to the Holy Spirit. He will perform the word of wisdom in your life.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
