The Woman With Great Faith
“I remember the time I could not go to church for 2 years (during my post-grad). I did not realise it then, but I understand it better now. How, with just crumbs, God sustained me. As I reminisced, the Syrophoenician woman's story came to my mind.”
Even though Jesus reminded her that His time for her (non-Jews) had not yet come, SHE PERSISTED. Though she was compared to a dog, she was willing to have the crumbs that fell from the table.
The Word of God is bread. Even its crumbs have great power. The Gentile woman had great faith because she recognised Christ - the living bread, the word of God.
You may not know much now, but whatever little you know about God has the power to transform you. As children or youth, there’s little we understand about God. But whatever we do, when we believe, we see the glory of God.
But our learning should not stop at crumbs. When you are hungry, and nothing is available, have you found yourself relishing crumbs? After having the crumbs, the hunger increases.
Feed the hunger for the word of God in you. Do not ignore it with entertainment, worldliness, "work responsibilities", etc.,
6 qualities we see in the woman who produced great faith,
Recognising Jesus (Matthew 15:22)
Repentant (Matthew 15:22)
Persistence (Matthew 15:23)
Firm belief
True worshipper (Matthew 15:25)
Love for God's word (Matthew 15:27)
Faith (Matthew 15:28)
It is God's gift of grace that helps us recognise Christ as Lord and Saviour. The gentile woman knew Jesus as the Son of David. Her attitude after the realisation reveals the character behind her great faith.
Dear believer, by grace are we saved through faith. When we understand that, our character will reflect God's workmanship.
Surrender to the living God who died and rose again. The time is short.
Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
