What Is the Will of God for My Life?

A common question among youth — how can anyone know God's will?

There are a few verses that tell us directly what God's will is concerning His children. To name a few:

  • Being thankful (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

  • Living honourably (1 Peter 2:15)

  • Being holy (1 Thessalonians 4:3)

These reflect a state of being — a lifestyle. But how does this come about in our lives?

It requires pursuit: of the new way, in prayer, and in surrender (Romans 12:1–2).

Prayer is foundational to knowing God's will. We pray with understanding for spiritual growth, and also with the help of the Holy Spirit, who intercedes according to God's will (Romans 8:26–27).

Today, many youth are stepping into ministry without truly knowing who God is, and without an understanding of their own spiritual state. Every generation of young people has wanted to jump straight into roles like pastoring. Now, social media has made it even easier to be seen and heard as a "man or woman of God."

Preaching is indeed God's will — but is it being backed up with sincere prayer?

Every hero of faith in the Bible received their victory because they kept God first. Prayer was a way of life. Jesus Himself exemplified this. Prayer keeps our focus on Him — helping us remain thankful, holy, and righteous through Christ alone.

Let us pray for one another to have a spirit of prayer:

  • For believers and the unsaved

  • For the persecuted and those in need

  • For people in positions of authority

  • For peace and hope in a perishing world

  • May God give us grace.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
