Why Should Youth Study the Book of Proverbs?
Why Should Youth Study the Book of Proverbs?
King Solomon knew God. He also experienced the world at a level most humans today cannot imagine. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, he came to understand many things about living the right life.
PURPOSE-DRIVEN WISDOM
The purpose of these proverbs is to teach people to live:
Disciplined
Free from stress
Rightly and fairly
The world is reeling with mental and emotional stress, people lack discipline, and most do not know right from wrong today. As children of God, we are called to lead people out of this darkness by the power of the Holy Spirit.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH GUARANTEED
These wise sayings provide knowledge and discernment for the young. They are the best shortcut to maturity.
WISDOM OF THE EXPERIENCED
Youth lack wisdom because of inexperience. The wisdom of God is brought to us through an experienced person to equip the inexperienced. That person is not King Solomon — it is the Spirit of God.
STUDY, DON'T SIMPLY READ
Plain reading will not be enough. Studying is necessary. Seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit and from spiritual elders is essential. Some verses may feel contradictory, but remember — God will never contradict Himself. Always approach the Word with humility and lowliness of heart. God always feeds His children, and in fact, you will only find yourself desiring Him more.
Dive into the wisdom from above. Our time is short.
Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
