What Must We Not Forget As Christians?

(Key Verse: Genesis 41:51)

Manasseh means "forgotten my father's house and sufferings." In the Word of God, we learn that there are some things we must remember and some things we need to forget.

What Must We Not Forget?

  1. God (Jeremiah 2:32). A bride remembers her ornaments and attire, yet Israel has forgotten God. In Deuteronomy 6:12, God delivered the people out of Egypt and warned them not to forget Him.

  2. The knowledge of the Word of God (Hosea 12:6). The rich man did not study the law of Moses (Luke 16:29).

  3. Our resting place (Jeremiah 50:6). Sheep often drift from the Shepherd's place of rest (Psalm 1). We must not drift to strange places. There is a place to stand (Exodus 33:21): the Rock, who is Christ.

  4. All His benefits (Psalm 103:2). Zipporah means "bird" (Job 38:41), and God provides food for the young birds. King Hezekiah did not give God praise for His benefits (2 Chronicles 32:25). Nabal did not acknowledge the benefit of King David's protection (1 Samuel 25:15, 16, 37).

  5. Holiness: that we were purged from our sins (2 Peter 1:9). Esther had to be purified for twelve months before meeting King Xerxes (Esther 2:12). We must desire to stand before Jesus, and for that we need holiness. Never forget Joseph, a picture of holiness, who was forgotten for two years by the Chief Butler (Genesis 41:1, 9). Do not forget to carry bread (Mark 8:14). Bread (doctrine) represents Holy Communion.

  6. The songs that testify of God's glory (Deuteronomy 31:21). God gives songs in the night (Job 35:10).

  7. The commandment of God. (Hebrews 8:10). Adam forgot the commandment of God.

Maranatha. Praise God, and Amen.
