Why We must Not Trust Anyone But God

How easily we tend to trust people in our lives; only because they agree on matters or are blood-related. A few betrayals later, we find ourselves much more wary of the world around us.

The older we get, the better our perspective of life and our understanding of human character. But the longing to feel appreciated or recognised lingers.

Jesus did not desire the testimony of man because he knew what was in man. He trusted no one enough to be of any support for Him. He rested on God alone.

WHAT IS IN MAN?

Here are five natures as a result of sin found in man.

  1. Fleshly sinful natures: (Mark 7:20-23) Jesus says what comes out of a man defiles him. A man is full of fleshly natures that lead to death.

  2. Desire for greatness: (Luke 9:47) The disciples desired to be great in the kingdom of God. Just like how many saints love the rewards in heaven rather than Jesus.

  3. Self-righteousness: Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath to help the Jews recognise their hypocrisy. (Luke 6:8) The Jews loved the Holy day more than the Holy one they were celebrating the day for.

  4. Evil: (Matthew 9:4) The Jews had evil in their hearts. They never cared about anyone except fulfilling their own pride.

  5. Spirit of money: the disciples felt the ointment used on Jesus was wasted rather than sold to provide for the poor (Matthew 26:10).

These natures continue to attack the believer. God preserves us daily. Not only do we receive protection, but He also gives us grace to understand how to overcome through the Spirit.

Desire to be like Jesus who trusted in God alone. Our Heavenly Father seeks your company.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
