3 Hindrances to Walking in the Fullness of the Holy Spirit
Why do Spirit-baptised Christians struggle in walking in the fullness of the Holy Spirit?
Here are three reasons;
TAKING SIN LIGHTLY
No sin is okay. All sin is to be equally hated. Sin's nature is to rule (Genesis 4:7). A Christian's heart is ruled by the Holy Spirit, who will never share even a little space for sin to rule alongside Him. Hating sin keeps it from gaining a strong grip on us — it's an active stance that holds sin at bay through surrender to God's word and the power of the Holy Spirit. Because God hates sin, He will help you overcome its strongholds over time.
FLESHLY DESIRES
A desire becomes spiritual entanglement when we give it more room in our hearts than it deserves. Fleshly desires draw our engagement away from God's word and stunt the growth of His desires in us. The flesh always fights against the spirit. Keeping the body in check requires giving the Holy Spirit free rein — God will not force His will on us.
UNFORGIVENESS
Unforgiveness keeps us from enjoying the fullness of the Holy Spirit. When we're hurt and don't quickly forgive, our hearts begin to harden. What happens when a hurt lingers? Anger builds, hatred follows, and a deep need for revenge sets in. We become spiritually bound by darkness once again.
When Jesus is King of your heart, you walk in godly freedom. He took sin seriously enough to bear it all on the cross, and His precious sacrifice gives us reason to trust Him in all things. Today, we rest in His will and receive the strength to forgive others.
Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
