Giving Glory And Praise To God

The Sinful Man and the Praise of God

The sinful man knows how to praise people, but he does not know how to praise God. Even the praise offered to people is for selfish gain.

We say how great God is — but do we truly understand His greatness?

Psalm 104 presents a comprehensive picture of God’s greatness through His creation, provision, and ongoing governance of the natural world. We use His creations, provisions, and natural resources freely — but do we do so gratefully?

What Brings Glory and Praise to God?

  • A thankful heart brings God praise and glory. Thankfulness is different from praise, yet giving thanks is God’s will (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Doing God’s will pleases Him. Thankfulness is not a forced response — it is a genuine overflow from the heart, expressed in word and deed.

  • God’s righteous character, produced through Christ, brings much glory and praise to God (Philippians 1:11). Biblical character cannot be manufactured through our own effort. It is the natural outcome of our relationship with God.

  • Faith in Christ brings glory to God (Romans 4:20). Not any faith — but the faith the cross produces in us, which glorifies God in Christ Jesus.

  • Using your gifts brings glory to God (1 Peter 4:11). The sinful man uses his gifts of speaking and serving others for worldly purposes and self-glory. As children of God, we know that He alone is worthy of all glory, honour, power, and praise.

We have the privilege of being in His presence, which is full of glory. When we make room for His Spirit in our hearts, He gives us a glimpse of His love and power.

Let God’s love overflow, dear saint. You will praise and glorify Him — without any constraint.

Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
