How Does The Truth Set A Christian Free?
What does it mean, “the truth will set you free”? How does truth set a person free? What binds a person that requires truth to set him free?
Pilate asked, “What is truth?” (John 18:38). The question still remains profound for those who are still in darkness or have never known Jesus.
As believers, we not only know what is truth, we also know who is the truth. Praise be to God.
What is truth? God’s word is truth (John 17:17). Who is truth? Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
Born in sin, every human lives under the lie that his life is hopeless and doomed. Born again, he receives the truth that there is hope and life in Christ Jesus. Truth protects us from lies.
Many live in various fears — especially the fear of death. Jesus overcame death on the cross. For us, to live is Christ, and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). Truth protects us from fear.
Truth sanctifies (John 17:17). The word of God does a work of holiness in our lives. It brings clarity of mind, purity of heart, and a clear conscience that helps us walk in holiness.
Truth keeps us in the will of God (Spirit-led). The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13). He guides us into all truth. We walk in Jesus, who is the truth. When we are filled with the Spirit, we are aligned with His will (Romans 8:26).
Dear saint, Jesus is the truth who sets us free. Put on Christ to walk in freedom. He has set you free from the lies of Satan, the vanity of this world, and the lusts of the flesh. Our time here is short. Soon we will be in the presence of absolute truth forever.
