Is Happiness Temporary or Eternal?
Is happiness a temporary experience or an eternal one?
Born in sin, we had nothing to be happy about. We were headed to hell. Now we have every reason to be happy — Christ rescued us by grace through faith.
Who Is Happy?
He whose God is the Lord (Psalm 144:15)
Those who hear God’s wisdom (2 Chronicles 9:7)
All who follow Jesus’ example (John 13:17)
Those who receive God’s correction (Job 5:17; Hebrews 12:9–14)
Those willing to suffer for Christ (1 Peter 3:14; 4:14)
Joy That Sustains
A happy heart works like medicine (Proverbs 17:22). The joy of the Lord is our strength. His joy puts our life in perspective — it does not remove the cause of sadness or hurt, but helps us approach it correctly.
When God is Lord, we remain in His wisdom and follow Christ. We become open to correction and receive God’s word joyfully. Despite trials, the Holy Spirit keeps us rooted and grounded in Christ.
Without the Spirit, our joy grows dim (Isaiah 24:9, 11). Be filled with the Holy Spirit — He will light us up for His glory.
Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
