Obedience to God Is a Choice — For Those Who Love Him, It’s a Way of Life

Obedience to God is a choice. But for those who love Him, it isn’t a decision made over and over — it becomes a way of life.

There are 28 blessings promised to those who obey (Deuteronomy 28:1–2).

When God’s People Rebelled

Despite all the wonders God performed, many still rebelled against His work (Psalm 78:40–41). Scripture records their pattern of rebellion:

  • They provoked God

  • They grieved God in the wilderness

  • They tested God again and again

  • They limited the Holy One of Israel

  • They continued to sin even more against Him (Psalm 78:17)

So what happens when we go against God? It’s game over (Leviticus 26:18–26).

Grace Doesn’t Mean a Free Pass

Today, we are protected by the blood of Jesus. But that does not mean we can live however we want.

Jesus not only saved us — He is Lord. So what does it mean when we say, “Jesus is Lord”?

Everyone who takes Jesus as Lord lives differently than the rest. Here are five insights from Scripture:

  • They do what God says (Luke 6:46)

  • Live or die, they belong to God (Romans 14:8)

  • They walk in freedom — mentally and emotionally liberated from worldliness, fleshly strongholds, and Satan’s lies (2 Corinthians 3:17)

  • Peace is a lifestyle, not just a feeling (2 Thessalonians 3:16)

  • They are impartial and fair in their dealings with everyone (James 2:1)

Trust the Holy Spirit to power your walk with God in Christ.

Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
