Sin Was Finished At The Cross

Don't underestimate sin. Sadly, many do not realise the deadly impact sin has on them.

King David had a great testimony growing up. As he grew under God's favour, even the King of Israel, Saul, began to envy him. He won great battles and also won hearts. Despite all the great accolades of the past, his sinful journey from the terrace to the tomb (His first child with Bathsheba died), almost destroyed him.

Sin kept him sinning, from not realising his errors, eventually KEEPING HIM UNREPENTANT. Until, God sent Prophet Nathan to see his blunder.

  1. Sin made him endure public shame.

  2. Sin brought unrest in his house.

  3. Sin caused his wives to be taken away and defiled.

  4. Sin made him lose his love-child.

    (2 Samuel 12:10-14)

King David repented. God saved his life.

One of the worst things sin does to us is, make us UNREPENTANT. There is no eternal life for those who do not repent of their sins.

Did repentance come easily to King David, God's chosen? No.

If it wasn't for the Holy Spirit convicting us, we would have crashed out long ago, and been burning in hell. Godly grief makes us repent - a great work of the Holy Spirit in us (2 Corinthians 7:9-11)

Sin is at war against us. Sin is a person. Sin is waiting at the door (Genesis 4:7). Sin is waiting to overcome us. This is spiritual warfare. Sin wants to control us - our minds and hearts. Train your mind and guard your heart from the lies of the devil, the hypocrisy of the world, and the lusts of the flesh.

God desires we overcome it by the blood of the lamb, His sure Word, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Thank God for the cross where He took our sins away. If you’ve fallen due to sin, reflect on the victory you’ve received on the cross over the sin you’ve just committed.

Giddy up! Jesus is coming.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
