What Does The Life Of A Christian Look Like?
Paul talks about his life in Asia to the elders - a lifestyle every Christian needs to emulate (Acts 20:19-35).
Humility and tears (19) - He remained humble and in tears as a servant of God, praying and caring for the flock. We know he proudly killed Christians for a living until he knew Jesus.
He endured persecution by the Jews (19). Always ready to suffer for Christ.
He preached the truth in love (20). He never hesitated to preach what needed to be spoken publicly. Private matters were addressed personally or at home.
One message to all (21) - preaching repentance from sin and having faith in Christ.
Spirit-led lifestyle (22,23) - He had an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. While he did not know what to expect, the Holy Spirit kept him on guard and comforted him.
Living for Jesus, not self (24) - He valued his life because of the gospel. Nothing else. He wasn't living for himself but for others, so that the gospel may be spread.
He declared everything God wants His flock to know (25-27) - He did not preach to please people. He preached to save them.
He cared about the flock (28-31) - Paul, like Peter, gave his life for the gospel. Tending to the flock with humility and tears. He warned them of dangers among them.
He expected spiritual growth (32) - Paul encouraged believers to grow spiritually. The gospel radically transforms lives.
He did not ask for money as an apostle, he worked for it (33-35). Most of the apostles lived on offerings. Paul chose to fund his ministry. Do you live to work, or work to fund God's ministry?
Dear child of God, does your job fulfil your inner man or is spreading the gospel your greatest love?
Wake up to His goodness. You are the light of the world.
Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
