The Most Important Relationship Is Not The Family

Jesus' brothers did not believe in Him (John 7:5). So much for sibling love!

The sinful human always tries to fix love in the family. We should stay together, we should be united, etc., Ananias and Sapphira united against the Holy Spirit. They lost eternity.

Jesus only cared about remaining united with God.

Family is important, but never at the cost of your relationship with God.

When Jesus was casting out demons, His family called Him mad (Mark 3:21). Later, when his mother and brothers called him outside, he never went. Jesus openly stated that His family is the one that does the will of the Father (Mark 3:31-35).

Jesus took God's will seriously. So must we.

Aquila and Priscilla kept God first. Their business did not keep them from following God and doing His will. Paul thanks God for their help in ministry.

Today, many Christian families are breaking apart because of attachment to family (fleshly). One of the believing spouses ends up listening to counsel outside of God's word, and over time, the relationship is torn apart. Once you get married, trust God to guide your marriage. Avoid outside counsel, especially those who aren't of the faith.

The Jews took pride in their lineage, which traced back to Abraham. Jesus put them in their place by exposing their hypocrisy - they did not follow Abraham's example (John 8:39).

Many claim to believe in Jesus but do not follow Him. It's Jesus or nothing. Many, for the sake of their families, have compromised their faith in Christ.

What does the blood of Jesus shed for you on Calvary mean to you?

Prepare yourself to meet Jesus.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen
