The Word Of God Is The Best Gift For The Poor
There's something every Christian can do for the poor that no one can.
Do you feel sorry for the poor? Do you feel helpless because there's only so much you can do for all the poor in the world?
God honours the poor (James 1:9). But do the poor know?
There are three kinds of poor.
Financially poor
Poor in spirit (poor in selfishness/passions and desires)
Helpless
What does God's Word say about the poor?
Firstly, God makes the rich and the poor (Proverbs 22:2). No believer must feel discouraged because they are financially poor. God gives us grace to be content in any state.
God has chosen the poor to be rich in faith (James 2:5). All who love Him will inherit the kingdom of God.
Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3). What does it mean to be ‘poor in spirit’? Poor in our selfishness. Rich in Christ's spirit or the Holy Spirit.
When the helpless poor call out to God, He delivers them from all their troubles (Psalms 34:6).
What's common across all kinds of the poor? God.
Man shall live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).
Will you bring the precious word of God to the poor, dear believer? Help them literally, joyfully, as much as you can. But never stop encouraging them in the Lord.
Prepare to meet Christ your King.
