What Does Fear Cripple?
God does not want us to fear, because He upholds us with His right hand of righteousness (Isaiah 41:10). Israel feared when they were caught between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea (Exodus 14:13–14).
Who Fears?
Those who sin (Genesis 3:10)। Adam had fellowship with God. After sinning, he became scared of the very voice of God.
Those with unbelief (Genesis 18:15)।Sarah sinned by lying — laughing in disbelief at the thought of giving birth in old age — because she did not believe God.
When we are afraid, we must trust God (Psalm 56:3) at all times (Psalm 62:8).
God did not give us a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). If fear is present, it can be cast out by God’s perfect love (1 John 4:18).
3 Hindrances Caused by Fear
Fear makes suffering intolerable. Suffering is inevitable, but God is with us. Faith keeps us joyful and hopeful through suffering (1 Peter 5:10).
Fear stops us from doing God’s will. The widow of Zarephath obeyed Elijah and was blessed because of her faith (1 Kings 17:13). Had she feared, she would not have done God’s will — nor received His blessing. Like Jesus, she surrendered to God’s will.
The fearful cannot stand before God (Revelation 21:8).
Fear hinders us from witnessing the wonderful works of God (1 Samuel 12:7).
Dear saint, receive God’s love that drives out every fear. Be free — daily — from the fear that hinders us from growing in the Lord.
Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
