What Is Spiritual Nourishment?
Are you getting spiritually nourished?
Where Is Your Spiritual Nourishment?
Where is your spiritual nourishment coming from? Is it from the food you eat? Your status in life? Possessions? Friendships? Your job? Or is it coming from God?
THE FLESHLY MAN
The fleshly man craves to do his own will. His sinful state keeps him in bondage. He loves the world and the things of the world (1 John 2:15–17). His nourishment comes from temporary intellectual and physical stimulation that engages the flesh. His curiosity eventually drives him into delusion and perversity. Without God, he remains blinded and bound in darkness.
THE SPIRITUAL MAN
The spiritual man is born of God. When Jesus enters our lives, we become free spiritually. We become aware of who we really are.
Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing His work” (John 4:34).
WHAT IS SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT?
Spiritual nourishment is the “food” for the soul, mind, and spirit that keeps a person whole, balanced, and aligned with what is true and eternal.
“Man shall live by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Our spiritual nourishment comes from God’s Word, which keeps us in His will. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take (Proverbs 3:6). He also gives us the power to please Him as we pursue His will (Philippians 2:13).
ARE YOU SEEKING HIS WILL?
Do you pray to receive knowledge of His will? (Colossians 1:9)
Are you conforming to His way of life to learn about His will? (Romans 12:1–2)
Do you ask God to teach you to do His will? (Psalm 143:10)
God gave us Scripture to reveal His will:
1 Thessalonians 4:3 — Be holy (Galatians 5:16)
1 Thessalonians 5:18 — Be thankful
John 6:40 — Believe in Christ for eternal life —and more
YOUR TRUE FOOD
Our food, as believers, is to do the will of God. Jesus rescued us from sin and brought us into His marvelous light to show us the way.
The Spirit of God guides our spirit to do His will (Ezekiel 36:27). We receive a renewed spirit to do God’s will.
Ask and receive. Seek and find. Knock, and the door shall be opened to you.
