Why We Cannot Afford To Settle On Earth?

Don't settle. We are not of this world (Hebrews 11:10). We are here for a little time. We must remain focused on Jesus, and the blessed guidance of the Holy Spirit.

DON’T SETTLE

There are many spirits at work that want us settled on this earth. Man finds a place to settle in life on earth - a good place to live, a good job to retire from, a good family, etc. All of it is temporary - be it material, financial or physical abundance. Nothing is guaranteed, no matter how much money one makes. Having it all gives a high level of spiritual satisfaction (feeling), but not the godly kind. The unsaved man thinks only about his life on earth. Sadly, many believers have hope only for this life only (1 Corinthians 15:19). God calls them "most miserable".

Jesus did not die on the cross so we can be spiritually satisfied with things money can buy. The worldly have everything that money can buy.

We are strangers (1 Peter 2:11), seeking the place Jesus is preparing for us (John 14:1-4). The OT saints who lived by faith, sought a better city promised to them (Hebrews 11:13-16) - not of this world.

TRAVEL LIGHT

Those who know they can’t afford to settle, travel light. They don’t burden themselves. How to travel light? Carry what matters to where you are going. Heaven and earth will pass away, but the word of God will never fail - it is forever. Carry the word of God in your heart, it is light (1 John 5:3).

Carrying the Word is light because we have the Holy Spirit who helps us remain in Christ. A true believer lives by faith. All he needs for this life is provided when necessary. He or she is committed to bringing the gospel to the people God brings into his life.

Our flight out of earth is our final one. Prepare to fly. Remember to fly light. Only hand-luggage, not baggage.

Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
