You Are the Vineyard of the Lord
You are the vineyard of the Lord. When a vineyard is planted, the stones are first cleared from the ground (Isaiah 5:2). John the Baptist was sent to clear the way for Jesus' ministry to be launched. In the same way, we need to prepare our way in order to meet the Lord. Each stone in our lives must be cast out individually.
What Do the Stones in Our Way Reveal?
Murmuring (Exodus 17:4): The people were ready to stone Moses. God did not rescue Israel for them to perish in the wilderness — yet they murmured against God and His servant. Trust God's ways. Believe, and you will see the glory of God.
Lack of Gratitude (1 Samuel 25:36–37): Nabal had no gratefulness for King David's soldiers who guarded his flock. We must be thankful always.
Relying on Our Own Strength (Job 6:12): King Nebuchadnezzar believed in his own strength. In his pride, he claimed to have built the great city of Babylon (Daniel 4:30–31). Let us instead glorify God in all that we accomplish (Zechariah 4:6).
Heaviness and Burdens (Psalm 37:3): How do we come into the presence of God? When the wind blows, stones don't fly — paper does. Whatever heaviness we encounter on life's journey, we have been given the garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3) to overcome it.
Worries (Matthew 13:5): When our heart is stony, there are no deep roots. Our faith will easily be uprooted. Do not let the cares and worries of the world uproot you. Seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Offence (Matthew 18:6): We must not become a stone of offence for others.
Unbelief (John 11:39–40): Every stone of unbelief needs to be removed from our hearts. Jesus weeps at unbelief (John 11:35).
The coming of the Lord is near, dear saint. Prepare yourself to meet Jesus.
Maranatha. Praise God. Amen.
